US Embassy Compound Auction

The general public is invited to participate in the U.S. Embassy's auction scheduled from 10am to 3pm. The auction will be held at the Shipahoy Complex (eastern gate) West Bay St., opposite Well's Texaco Service Station. Doors open for inspection and registration from 9am to 10am. The auction items include office furniture, computer equipment, vehicles and other miscellaneous supplies. For vehicles - successful bidders on vehicles must pay a $300 non-refundable deposit immediately after winning the vehicle bid. The balance will be due by 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2012. Bids for all other items must be paid in full at the conclusion of the auction.

The Cultural Center at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has extended the deadline to apply for grants worth up to $10,000. The program, for nationals in Latin America and the Caribbean, requests more applications from The Bahamas. The new deadline is set for Feb 11. The official opening of the Thomas A. Students under the age of 18 are invited to participate in the 1st Annual Art Competition. The theme is 'Impressions of a Foreign Country'. Artwork should represent an original scene, location or place representing an impression of a country where Rotary International is present, accompanied by a mini-essay (max 100 words) describing the geographic location of the scene and why that place was chosen. A $300 prize and trophy for first place and a $200 prize and trophy for second place winners. Great Harbour Cay's 3rd Annual Wahoo Tournament

The Third Annual Great Harbor Cay Wahoo Tournament is destined to be the largest Wahoo Tournament held at Great Harbour Cay in the Bahamas. Humane Society's BAARK Dog Walk

The BAARK Sunday dog walking program is held on Sundays at 3:30 to 4:30 pm at the Bahamas Humane Society. Walks are approx 20-30 minutes. The more people that volunteer, the more dogs can enjoy the big wide world. Hundreds of dogs get walked, giving them a great outing, helping to socialize and leash train them, making them more adoptable and for their forever homes.

TYBMS Search For Artist of the Year 2012

The Young Bahamian Music Society holds its search for Artist of the Year 2012. Free registration & auditions. Free video auditions and interviews are held during regular open house every Sat and Sun 12 pm - 6 pm or Mon through Thurs by appointment. Starting January 2012 four artists of the week are selected by TYBMS, and then one artist of the month. A total of 12 acts will get a music video shoot. At the end of the year Artist of the Year 2012 is chosen and wins an extended length album recording and production with an extra video shoot.
