NAGB Film “Rashomon, 1950”

The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas screens “Rashomon, 1950” as part of its Global Cinema Series. A man is murdered and his wife raped, recounted by four witnesses whose prejudices and idiosyncracies lead to different accounts of the event. Coastal Cleanup with National Pride Association

The Bahamas National Pride Asscoiation holds a Coastal Cleanup at Goodman's Bay as part of the BNPA's Cleanup Month. The BNPA has been inspired this year with a national outreach to give everyone a bag and encourage people to just fill one bag with trash from any public area as part of this year's effort to clean up our environment and keep it clean. The Goodman's Bay cleanup starts at 8 am. Students can apply the time spent towards their volunteer community service hours.

Ashé: Jamaican Professional Dance Troupe

The last dance performance is now scheduled for Saturday night at 7 pm at the Wyndham. (Was originally scheduled for the Dundas). Ashé is an acclaimed touring professional dance troupe from Jamaica performing “Rhythm, Rhyme & Culture”, a show that interweaves drama with wonderful music, costumes and dance. Thanksgiving Holiday

Thanksgiving in the USA is the biggest North American holiday, thought to have started with New England pilgrims. Yet the earliest attested Thanksgiving celebration was on Sept 8, 1565 in St. Augustine, FL. According to author Robyn Gioia, a Spanish explorer, Pedro Menendez de Aviles, landed there on Sept 8, 1565, and celebrated a feast of thanksgiving with Timucua Indians. They dined on bean soup-56 years before before the Pilgrims sat down and shared a meal with natives at Plymouth Rock. (Source: USA Today)
