An intensive poetry workshop led by Christian Campbell about developing the craft and publishing in local and international journals. Junkanoo Summer Festival

"A Walk Through History," presented is along Bay St on Tuesdays and Fridays 9 am to 6 pm. The festival includes a craft fair, farmers market, face painting, caricature artists, block parties, shopping, Rake 'n Scrape Junkanoo and live music. Bay Street shops are decorated with the theme. Guided walking tours outline the rich Bahamian history. The Nelson Cooper "Peace on da Streets" Basketball Tournament. A $1,200 cash prize is up for grabs. This year's tournament held as a tribute the Bahamian basketball legend Phil Smith. This special "Poets and Writers Series will feature literary artist Obediah Michael Smith. He is a published author of ten books of poems, a short novel and a cassette recording of poems. As an employee of The Ministry of Education, he taught English Language and Literature in high schools on New Providence, Grand Bahama and Inagua. Music & Heritage Celebration

On Saturdays until the 28th of July, on Arawak Cay, part of the Junkanoo Summer Festival features craft displays, live music, dancing, games, exhibitions, Quadrille dancing instruction, a Junkanoo Summer Camp, Junkanoo rush-outs at 5:30 pm and 10 pm and many more activities for the whole family. The Astro Club offers an astronomy tour to Fort Charlotte Hill. Bus pick up is at 7 pm from Arawak Cay. NAGB Visual Artist's Talk

Featuring Mr. Denis Knight. A potter's potter, an artist's artist and a wonderful teacher and gentleman, Knight has lived and worked in The Bahamas since the 1950s. He taught for many years in the public school systems and at the College of The Bahamas. His work is featured in the exhibition Bahamian Art: Pre Columbian to the Present and is represented in many private collections. Begins 7 pm at the National Art Gallery, West Hill St. T: 328-5800.

Bike Show & Pool Party

Red Liners Bike Club presents their 5th Annual Bike Show & Bikini Pool Party. Two-day event kicks off on Saturday with the bike show on R.M. Miss Bahamas World Beauty Pageant

This year 15 young ladies will compete for the titles of Miss Bahamas World, Miss Bahamas Tourism Queen International, and Miss Bahamas Intercontinental. A fourth title will also be awarded to the contestant who receives top marks in runway skills during a special preliminary competition. She will go on to represent The Bahamas at 2008 Top Model of the World competition. Held under the theme "Out of Africa - a Celebration of Freedom!" The show will commemorate the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade.
