Just Rush Labour Day Weekend

Six of the top Junkanoo groups compete for over $100,000 in prizes and includes a performance by reggae superstar Beres Hammondat the Columbus Theater parking lot, downtown, Freeport, Grand Bahama.

5th Andre Rodgers National Baseball Championships

500 participants and 34 teams, including those from Family Islands play in five different age groups from 7 - 25. The opening night is set for May 31 at Freedom Farm park beginning at 7 pm. Games are scheduled at Freedom Farm, St. Andrew's Field of Dreams and Pinewood Baseball Fields.

Marriage Symposium

Hosted by a non-profit organisation and ministry Marriage Keepers, this symposium aims to create an atmosphere in which persons can receive pre-marital and marriage counselling, under the theme: "Loving your love through the seasons." It includes spiritual advice on building and restoring relationships. Held in the ballroom at Super Clubs Breezes. 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm May 31; three sessions on June 1 beginning at 9 am and 8:30 am until June 2.

Contemporary Bahamian artist Dr. Desiree Cox, who is also a medical doctor, writer, and jazz singer, holds an exhibition described as gateways to the imagination, the beginnings of stories poems, songs and even plays. Essay Competition Deadline

Hosted by The Min. of the Public Service as part of their 8th Annual Public Service Week. Open to junior and senior high school students. Topic: “The Public Service - Promoting Quality Service in the Workplace.” Essay should consist of 250 - 300 words for junior high students and 450 - 500 for senior. Winners will be announced during the 8th Annual Public Service Week Awards Ceremony on October 6th, 2007. Winners will each receive a Dell Desktop 2400 computer with scanner, copier and printer. Labor Day

Members of the labor unions and political parties march in a large parade through downtown Nassau in colorful uniforms. Local bands and a few Junkanoo-ers provide music. The parade ends at the Southern Recreation Grounds where union leaders and local politicians speak. Begins at 10 am.

Barraterre Homecoming Festival & Regatta

Cancer Society Annual Ball

This annual fundraiser for the Cancer Society is held under the patronage of Prime Minister at the Wyndham Nassau Resort. A cocktail reception and awards ceremony at 7 pm. and dinner and dancing at 8 pm. Photo Contest Deadline

Bahamas First's 25th Anniversary Calendar Photo Contest. Open to all photographers. Calendar theme, 'The Bahamas at Play.' Photographs may be of any subject or scene that illustrates the theme and must be taken in The Bahamas. Deliver entry forms and photo entries to Bahamas First General Insurance's office #32 Collins Ave. Fourteen entries will be selected and will appear in Bahamas First's 25th Anniversary 2008 Calendar.
